“Book an eye exam somewhere that takes my vision insurance, sometime next week.”
Check your vision benefits
Fo asks your plan or the office what's covered, like the exam, frames or contacts, and what you'd pay.

Get your prescription

How to book an eye exam
Vision coverage is often a separate plan from your health insurance, so start there. In the US, you also have a right to a copy of your prescription after the exam.
- Find your vision plan and member ID. It may be separate from your health insurance card.
- Use your plan's provider search, or call the office, to confirm the optometrist is in network.
- When you book, say whether you need a contact lens fitting too. It's often a separate service with its own fee.
- Ask what you'll owe for the exam with your plan, and what allowance you have for frames or lenses.
- In the US, the eye doctor must give you your glasses prescription after an exam with a refraction, at no extra charge. You can buy glasses anywhere.
Questions people ask
How does Fo know which offices take my plan?
Fo checks your plan's provider search and calls the office to confirm. Networks change, so it confirms before booking rather than going by a listing alone.
Can Fo order glasses or contacts for me?
Yes, using a prescription you already have. Fo tells you the total before it buys anything and pays only what you approved. It doesn't choose a prescription or treatment for you.
What does Fo need from me?
Your vision plan details, when you're free and, for orders, your current prescription. Some stores need your account login; Fo asks before using it.
