Unauthorised charges
A child's 11 months of software charges refunded · $410.63 · Won — A child had run up Adobe Creative Cloud charges for 11 months. Fo reached a support agent who could approve an exception, brought the account holder onto the call to authorise it, and got the full amount back.
Renter deposits (still open)
Cleaning deduction contested with the move-in inventory · £150 · In progress — The letting agent kept £150 for cleaning. Fo compared the move-in and move-out inventories, showed the marks were already recorded at move-in, offered £50 and kept chasing. The landlord hasn't agreed, so the case is going to the official deposit-protection scheme. There's no confirmed renter-deposit win yet. The smaller deposit wins are a £79 dental deposit and a $100 car-reservation deposit.
What the wins have in common
- Getting to a person: most wins came from a call where Fo got past the phone menu and reached someone who could approve an exception.
- Not taking the first no: the lab, airline, insurer and card cases each needed repeat calls, a supervisor or a formal escalation.
- Doing the homework: Fo brought cash prices, Medicare rates, inventories and the rules that apply, and put them on the call or in the letter.
- Asking before acting: Fo got the user's go-ahead before sending a settlement offer or appeal, and brought the account holder onto the call when the company required it.
